What Deductible Covers My Windshield Replacement? (ICBC)

ICBC: Comprehensive or Collision — What Covers Windshield Damage?

When it comes to windshield replacement, one of the most common questions we hear at Dynasty Glass is:

“Is my windshield covered under Comprehensive or Collision insurance?”

Here’s the simple answer 👇

✅ Windshield Damage Is Covered Under ICBC Comprehensive

If your windshield was damaged by:

  • Rock chips or flying debris

  • Cracks that appeared while driving

  • Road hazards (gravel, ice, debris)

👉 This is covered under Comprehensive coverage with ICBC.

Most drivers pay only their comprehensive deductible, which is commonly $200 (unless you chose a different amount).

❌ Collision Coverage Does Not Apply

Collision insurance applies when:

  • You hit another vehicle

  • You hit an object (pole, wall, barrier, etc.)

  • You’re at fault in an accident

Collision coverage is not typically used for windshield-only damage caused by rocks or road debris.

What If the Windshield Was Damaged in an Accident?

If your windshield was damaged as part of a larger collision claim:

  • ICBC may apply your collision deductible

  • This usually happens only if other vehicle damage is involved

We can help confirm which coverage applies before any work is done.
