OEM vs. Aftermarket Windshields: What You Need to Know Before Your Replacement

When it’s time for a new windshield, one of the most common questions customers ask is:
“Should I get OEM or aftermarket glass?”

Let’s break it down — and explain how Dynasty Glass ensures quality, no matter which option your insurance covers.

OEM vs. Aftermarket: What’s the Difference?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass is made by the same company that supplied your vehicle’s factory glass.
Aftermarket glass is produced by a different manufacturer — but made to OEM specifications.

That means it fits your vehicle exactly, uses the same safety standards, and performs the same way as OEM — the only real difference is the logo in the bottom corner.

What ICBC and Other Insurers Cover

Most insurance companies, including ICBC, will automatically approve aftermarket glass for your replacement — unless there is no aftermarket option available, in which case OEM will be authorized.

If you prefer to go with OEM glass, you absolutely can — you’ll just be responsible for paying your deductible plus the difference in cost between the OEM and aftermarket options.
We’re always happy to provide a quote and walk you through your options so you can make the choice that best fits your needs.

We Only Use OEM-Spec Aftermarket Glass

At Dynasty Glass, we refuse to use “cheap” or poorly manufactured glass.
Every piece of glass we install is OEM-spec, meeting or exceeding the original factory standards for clarity, fit, safety, and strength.

Before any windshield goes on a vehicle, we perform a quality check — ensuring there are no optical distortions, imperfections, or flaws.
If it doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t go on your vehicle. Period.

Our Commitment to Quality

We don’t believe in cutting corners or making a quick buck.
Your time, your vehicle, and our name all mean more than that.

We take pride in providing dealership-level quality with the personalized care of a locally owned business.
From start to finish, we make sure every replacement is done right — because you deserve nothing less than the Dynasty standard.
